Trigger Weight
The amount of force required to break the trigger and fire the rifle, measured in ounces or pounds. Precision rifles typically run 1.5-3 lb.
A light, crisp trigger removes one of the few variables a shooter can control: their own pull. A 1.5-lb trigger lets you press the rifle without disturbing the sight picture. A 5-lb factory trigger has to be wrestled with.
Below about 1 lb the trigger is fast enough to surprise you during the natural sway and breathing cycle. That’s an asset in bench work and a hazard everywhere else.
